Where?

The goal of our trek is to journey through the picturesque trails of Khumbu, to distance ourselves from the crowds of tourists heading to Everest Base Camp, to catch sight of the four 8,000-meter peaks from the summit of Gokyo Ri, and to return via the Renjo Pass at 5,350 meters. Honestly, I prefer circular and linear routes. I don't enjoy retracing the same path back.

The journey will take place at altitudes ranging from 3,000 to 5,350 meters. Daily hikes will last for 4-8 hours. Nights will be spent in "lodges" with Nepalese hospitality and comfort.

The Gokyo Lakes are situated within the pocket of moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier, which flows from beneath the 8,201-meter Cho Oyu peak. There are a total of 5 lakes. In our travel plans, we intend to visit at least 3 of them, with the 4th being optional, and the 5th requiring a separate expedition. Although for the particularly determined, even that can be arranged!

To know

Khumbu is a region in Nepal that encompasses the well-known Mount Everest. In this area, the local population consists of "Sherpas." The capital is the village of Namche Bazaar, situated at an elevation of 3,440 meters. The Sherpas are predominantly Buddhists, and nearly every village has a monastery. We will definitely visit some of these monasteries as part of our journey and attend their services.

We will be surrounded by peaks such as Kusum Kanguru, Kantega, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Kongde, Teng Kang Poche, Kiazori, and many other breathtaking summits exceeding 6,000 meters in height. The renowned Nuptse, towering at 7,861 meters, and of course, Everest (8,848 meters), Lhotse (8,516 meters), Makalu (8,481 meters), and Cho Oyu (8,201 meters) will also be part of the stunning landscape.

We will be gaining altitude gradually, spending each night 500-600 meters higher than the previous one. In Namche Bazaar, we'll have a traditional rest day with walks around the area, mainly for acclimatization purposes. Get your cameras ready - it's going to be incredibly beautiful.

A fairly long day with the first extended ascent. A gain of 900 meters in altitude. Along the way, we enter the national park where our permits will be checked. Before the steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, we'll cross a picturesque suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River.

There's a resting platform midway up the ascent. Hospitable local residents sell mandarins there, and on clear days, you can catch a glimpse of Everest.

Timing: 5-6 hours. Uphill 900 m.

Day 6. Hike to Dhole (4050).

Day 10. Crossing Renjo Pass (5355) and hike to Landkhen (4370).

Timing: 6 hrs. Uphill 100 m. Downhill 1100 m.
